A couple of weeks ago, Sherrie and I made our way over to Milton Keynes, to meet Michelle, her nineteen year-old daughter Abi and their stunning Friesian mare, Sasha.

This is a shoot that has been a long time coming. Michelle bought a Mud to Makeup photoshoot gift voucher for Abi for Christmas, back in 2014, but due to one thing or another, we’ve only just got round to getting this booked in.

When Abi moved, with her family, to Milton Keynes, away from the friends and life she knew, Michelle thought a horse might help her settle in and adjust. Michelle has her own pony, Sam, too, so they thought a new addition would be nice.

Michelle’s partner stumbled upon Sasha’s advert online and they enquired about her. Her owner, who was putting her on loan whilst she went away to uni, received over eighty enquiries about her gorgeous girl, and I can totally understand why. She’s a looker!

But thankfully, she handpicked Michelle and Abi, to be Sasha’s new family. They travelled up to Lancaster meet her and fell head over heels in love.

They took Sasha on a four year loan, with a view to buy at the end of the four years, but have already decided that she won’t be going anywhere, and Sasha’s owner has already said that she’d love for them to buy her and make her officially theirs.

Abi has now had thirteen year-old Sasha on loan for two years, and they clearly adore one another. They are hoping to try their hand/hooves at dressage and showing, although have been hampered by Abi’s work and lack of transport up until now.

Abi and Michelle both warned me that Sasha was hard to photograph. They said that they could never get a good photograph of her and that they’d eat their hats if I did. Well, Abi, Michelle, I hope you’re hungry, because your girl is just beautiful!

Thank you so much for having Sherrie and I. We had a lovely afternoon, despite the little hiccup. 😉 Hope you’re all well and that I’ve done this stunning little mare justice for you.
