At the weekend, Sherrie and I spent a lovely, sunny Saturday morning with Caroline and her sweet girl, Zephyr, just up the road from me at Clarendon Equine, in Chelmsford.

‘Half Moon Zephyr’ (aptly named, thanks to the marking on her forehead) is an eighteen year-old Irish Sports Horse and has been with Caroline since she was just four.

‘Half Moon Zephyr’ (aptly named, thanks to the marking on her forehead) is an eighteen year-old Irish Sports Horse and has been with Caroline since she was just four.

However, with the veterinary centre being just a stone’s throw from Caroline’s home, and such a beautiful location, she asked politely if Zephyr might in fact be able to stay there on a more permanant basis… And she’s now lived there for ten years!

Caroline tells me that the most the pair have ever ‘achieved’ is a first at a showing show and third at local level dressage. But she says that Zephyr is the nanny of the practice and keeps all of the in-patients company.

Caroline and Zephyr love exploring all of the beautiful bridleways surrounding Chelmsford, Baddow and Ingatestone and hack out for hours at the weekend. Caroline says that Zephyr his her de-stresser and knows all her problems. Isn’t that what having horses is all about?

Thank you, Caroline for having Sherrie and I, for the tea and doggy cuddles, and to husband Saul, for booking the shoot in the first place. We had a lovely morning.
