Happy FYI Friday everyone! I hope it’s been a productive and profitable week for you all.
This week we’re chatting about categorising your content. Whether it’s blog posts or social media content that you’re trying to get a handle on, this is a great method for you to utilise, in order to keep things structured, keep hold of your sanity and keep your audience coming back for more.
So, how does categorising work…?
Well, I’m doing it right now! You’re reading a post from my FYI Friday series, which is a weekly post all about running your equine business.
On Mondays, I post my vlog onto my Youtube channel and then embed it into a blog post.
And I’m currently working on even more content categories to streamline my blogging schedule. It’s a huge help!
And it works on your other social media platforms, too.
On Sundays, I have a ‘Show-Me Sunday’ feature on my Facebook page, where I ask my audience to post their photos.
I also have quotes which I post twice weekly, on certain days.
Can you see where I’m going with this?
When you’re thinking about what to post, either on your social media channels or on your blog, start putting your content ideas into categories and then work out a weekly/monthly feature that uses these catagories.
Why does this work?
Well, it works for a number of reasons.
One, it helps you keep your head on straight and allows you to plan in advance. Coming up with new content can be hard work. And then you have to work out when is best to post it, how to get people to read it and all that fun stuff.
Categorising your posts and coming up with regular features means that every time you come up with a new content idea, you nolonger have to work out when to post it. It fits into your category and you post it on the relevant day!
I can pretty much batch create an entire month’s worth of categorised content, in one day, if I get myself organised enough. And then the only thing I have to work on as I go along, is my photoshoots and anything that pops up unexpectedly.
Two, in addition to making life easier for you, these regular features will keep your audience coming back for more, because they will get to know what they’re getting and when to expect it.
My followers who are predominantly interested in business posts, know to check out my blog on a Friday. My vlog viewers know to expect a new installment on a Monday evening. And the Facebookers that love to interact, know I’m going to be asking for their involvement every Sunday afternoon!
So stop just randomly posting out stuff whenever the mood strikes and create some order for your content by categorising!
Happy FYI Friday. I hope you have a great weekend. Don’t work too hard!
