At the tail end of last summer, I had a beautiful shoot with Holly and her three ponies. I haven’t shared the images before now, as Holly’s mum, Julie, wanted the photogtaphs to be a surprise present.
But now Holly has seen and chosen her images, I’m able to share them with you guys. And I’m so excited, because this was such a gorgeous shoot and makes me so excited for those warm, light evenings.
Holly owns Bernard, Sparky and Baby Pony…
Bernard, or Bearnaderg Clover, is the black gelding with the black bridle, in the photos. He is Irish and by Moore’s Clover. He and Holly jumper JCs together last year.
The bay is Laurem Sparky. Sparky has only been with Holly’s family for eighteen months and was bought as a novice, with no jumping experienced. Holly says that he’s a bit of a worrisome chap, but with bags of talent, so he’s been tricky for her to produce. But the pair have jumper a couple of 1.20s and he has now gone to Holly’s younger sister, to continue to compete.
And the little black mare is Knockroe Cailin Dubh, but is affectionaltely known as Baby Pony. The family have owned her since she was just four years old and Holly has produced her entirely herself.
Since our shoot Baby Pony has moved onto a new home and is competing with a small, ten year-old jockey, showing her the ropes.
This shoot was to mark Holly coming off of ponies and moving onto horses, so she tells me she will be mostly focusing on her GCSEs this summer, but also has a lovely new young horse to produce, to keep her busy.
