I always think it’s fun, when buying birthday gifts, to not just buy something that you know the other person will love (although obviously that’s pretty important) but to put the effort into finding something that represents your relationship with them.

Me and my mum are different in a lot of ways, but despite that, we are the closest of friends and we do have one very big thing in common. Our love of animals. And more specifically, our dogs.

We love nothing more than to sit and drink tea, in the comfort of our homes and in the company of our three dogs.

You may have seen on my vlogs that earlier in the year, we lost our black Labrador, Archie, that d I had grown up with. And then in May, Finley the chocolate Lab puppy arrived, as the newest addition to the family. Yeh, my Mum has always had a love for Labradors.

So when I stumbled across The Labrador Co. on Instagram, I knew that I had to get something from them, for my Mum’s birthday.

They do a a gorgeous selection of products with Labrador silhouettes on them, in black, chocolate and blue (I personally have never seen a blue Labrador, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled!) And they also do a Spaniel range and a Dachshund range, too.

I bought a black Lab keyring, to represent Archie, a chocolate Labrador tea towel, to represent Finley and then the box of chocolates. I just thought it was incredibly cute and quite ingenious, that there was a dark, milk and a light, to match the black, chocolate and yellow Labrador colours.

And then, no birthday is complete with some smellies, so I threw some of those in too, along with a tin of luxury teabags, because that’s also kind of our thing.

The card was one I picked up from Ingatestone Saddlery Centre and is by artist, Alex Underdown, who does some really fabulous prints, incorporating all kinds of animals.

Mum enjoyed a nice, chilled birthday, starting with a weekend away with my Dad and the dogs, in Wiltshire and ending with opening presents round my house and dinner as a family. The perfect way to spend your birthday!
