Last week I had a very last minute session with Isa and her horses, Whizz and Aston, as Whizz was due to move on to his new home early this week. So we had to fit a very quick booking in, amongst all of these summer storms we’ve been having. Luckily, we managed it just time and as I left their yard, the heavens opened!
Before Whizz, Isa competed in working hunter classes, up to HOYS and RIHS, but eventually managed to pursuade her mum to allow her to event, instead. And Whizz (the bright bay) was the horse that helped her achieve that dream.
Whizz Biz is an eleven year-old, by Ricardo Z and was Isa’s first horse, after coming off of ponies. He has taken her from BE90 to CIC1* and she says that he’s taught her everything. I absolutely love the way Isa describes Whizz; “He has been so instrumental in forming my character, to make me who I am today. I owe him so much and I’m so grateful I was lucky enough to call him mine for four years.”
Whizz is now off to a new home, where he will teach another young rider the ropes in eventing. Isa wishes them every success, but is obviously very sad to see him go. “I hope that they will have as much fun and enjoyment as I have had with him, and love him as much as I always will.”
Our shoot also included Isa’s other horse, Aston. Shannondale Aston is a six year-old, by Shannondale Sarco, and only joined the family earlier this year. Previously, in 2016, he competed at BE100 and did a couple of novices, so Isa is excited for his future.
Isa has just finished all of her exams and she and Aston have really begun to get out and about, starting with a couple of 100s, before trying their hand at Novice.
Isa describes Aston as a ‘level up’ from Whizz, but once again, thanks her first horse for getting her ready to take this step. She also says “Aston and I have a lot to learn together, and he is still young, but he’s awesome and a great character, so my family and I are super excited about him and are hoping for a happy and successful future. Fingers crossed!”
I will certainly enjoy following your progress with this handsome chap, online, Isa. And I wish Whizz and his new family every happiness. Thank you so much for having me out to meet your boys. It was an absolute pleasure. I’d also like to thank Emily, from EquusPhoto, for sending Isa my way when she wasn’t able to do the shoot due to other commitments.
