Last week I revisited Brazils Farm, in South Woodham Ferrers, to meet Paula and her boy, Woody.
Woodlawn Patrick is an extremely handsome, very laid back eleven year-old Connemara. And Paula has owned him for three years.
She bought him to do a bit of local showing with, but their path has taken a slightly different direction. Paula and Woody are currently in training to compete at BE80, as part of the Wobbleberry Challenge!
Paula tells me that Woody is helping her relive her teenage years. She says that she hadn’t jumped in over twenty years, when she bought Woody, but he absolutely loves it and apparently is a bit of a dab hand.
However, eventing is something that neither of them have any experience in, so they are helping one another learn the ropes.
Paula describes Woody as ‘a dude’ and ‘a complete foodie’ who always does the minimum required of him. She said that nothing ever seems to phase him and he’s generally just pretty chilled about life.
In fact, it took him a little while to realise what we wanted from him, on our shoot. I would rattle my shakers and squeak my toys and he’d just look at me like I was slightly strange. Until the mints made an appearance, and they he decided that cooperating might not be so bad after all. Lol!
Thanks so much to Paula and Woody for a lovely morning. And of course, for bringing baby Spaniel, Marvin, along for me to cuddle, too! Bonus!
