I LOVE mare and foal shoots! There is something wonderful about sitting in a field, watching a new baby and it’s mummy, that is just undoubtedly good for the soul. So I always get super excited about being booked to photograph a mare and her new baby. It feels like therapy.

And this shoot was even more exciting. I have seen this beautiful mare out and about, on my travels, and fallen head over heels in love with her. If I’d have thought I could have gotten away with stuffing her into the boot of my Mini, when I visited last week, I’d have been all over it.

So I was thrilled when Lisa messaged me with photographs of Poppy’s new baby, Jasmine, and booked me for a shoot to document their new arrival.

Poppy is a twelve year-old, Irish Draught cross and I’m her biggest fangirl. Lisa tells me that she is a real ‘go anywhere’ girl and is forward going, but totally safe. Just a true, great allrounder.

She is also the proud new mum of perfect baby Jasmine. Lisa bred Jasmine for herself and plans to keep her and enjoy her.

Coincidentally, I also photographed Jasmine’s handsome daddy, Cos Me Is Black a few years back and found him to be such a gentleman. So, I’m sure, with Mummy and Daddy being such superstars, Jasmine is going to grow into quite an impressive young lady. I can’t wait to watch her grow on Lisa’s Facebook.
