Royal Windsor is my favourite show of the year. The atmopshere is electric, the displays are second to none and the trade stands always seem to have even more effort than usual.

But what is it with the weather at this show?!

It’s either baking sunshine, or pouring rain. And when we went to watch the coloureds in the Queen’s back garden, on Thursday, we had equal measures of both!! How is one supposed to decide what to wear when the weather simple can’t make it’s mind up?!

However, despite sweltering in the heat one moment and sheltering under any available umbrella the next, we had a fabulous day.

Friends of ours had various good results, including a third in the small NCT class for SD Lady in Waiting and a sixth in the small NNP class, for Team Colosso.

As always, the standard was high and the classes were full to the brim. The horses did their best to strut their stuff in the rain and the ponies, whilst blessed with sun, tried not to slip on the wet grass.

I, however, focused mainly on not spilling my PIMMS, whilst juggling it with my stonebaked mushroom and salami pizza and various cameras. A stressful day, I think you’ll agree. 😉

I had a lovely time visiting the Fairfax & Favor stand, the Annabelle Brocks stand, with their fabulous new summer range and drooling over all of the beautiful clothing at the likes of Teddy Edward, Holland Cooper and Butler Stewart.

I was strongly tempted by the first ‘Nutella pizza’ I had ever seen on the menu, but managed to resist.

All in all, it was a great day, as it always is with Royal Windsor. If you haven’t been, it really is one of the shows that’s a great day out for all the family, whether they are horsey or not. And I’d highly recommend checking it out.

I can’t wait for next year! But I’ll be packing both my suncream and my rain mack, for sure!
